Triple Coupons

No more sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else rack up on freebies at the grocery store.  Today I set out to prove to Harris-Teeter and to myself that I can play the coupon game too!

Thanks to some personal tutorials from a few couponing friends, I started collecting coupons 3 weeks ago from the Sunday newspaper.  Jason and I took time last night to organize our shopping list and cut out the corresponding coupons.  (I thought things might be taking a turn for the worse when I cut my left hand with the scissors while cutting out my first coupon.  Not to worry though, a little triple antibiotic ointment and a band-aid later I was back in action.)

For the first time in 14 months Harris-Teeter is running a promotion where they triple coupons up to $0.75.  The sale began at 7am but since I have to be at work at 7:15am, I had to wait until the end of the day to collect my bargains.  I was prepared that some items would already be cleared from the shelves but I pressed on.  Here's how my trip shook out...

Ken's Marinade, regularly $3.35 and I paid $0.68
Rhodes Rolls, regularly $2.39 and I paid $0.14
Domino Sugar, regularly $1.29 and I paid $0.16
French's Fried Onions, regularly $2.45 and I paid $0.95
Eggland's Best Extra Large Eggs, regularly $2.89 and I paid $1.45
Oral-B Floss, regularly $3.69 and I paid $0.44
Betty Crocker Brownie Mix, regularly $2.79 and I paid $0.50
Without specials and coupons I could have paid $28.21 + tax
BUT with specials and coupons I only paid $6.58 + tax

Success!!!  What a fun new challenge to add to my weekly routine!
